Redondo Beach Newsletter — November 9, 2025
📬 Brad Waller — District 1 Newsletter — November 10, 2025
Hello friends,
On the eve of Veterans Day, I want to pause and thank the service members and families in our community. Your courage and commitment shape the freedom we enjoy. If you’re able, please join me at tomorrow’s tribute in Veterans Park; it’s a meaningful hour every year and a chance to say “thank you” together.
This week’s update keeps it simple: a few neighborhood quality-of-life notes, where key planning/waterfront items stand, and dates to keep handy as we head into the holiday season.
No City Council meeting this week, but I will be holding my District 1 Community Meeting on Saturday, Nov 15, 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the Alta Vista Community Center (715 Julia Ave). I’ll cover the Boat Launch, North Branch Express Hours, Holiday Lights & Truck Routes, Housing Element, and smoke shop policy work. Bring questions; I’ll bring coffee.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read and for being an active member of this community. Here’s what we got.
🛡️ Public Safety & Quality of Life
🔹 Smoke shop policy work — what’s next
I’ve heard your concerns about storefronts near youth routes. I’m with you. Policy work has been underway; I support clear, common-sense rules that protect kids and fit neighborhood character. Expect this to come back in the November 18th meeting.

🌊 Environment & Waterfront
🔹 Water bill help + conservation
Cal Water’s Customer Assistance Program (CAP) can discount the monthly service charge for households that meet income guidelines or are enrolled in certain public programs. If you’re behind on a bill, PromisePay lets you set up customizable, interest-free payment plans to get current. And for everyone, there are indoor/outdoor conservation rebates (fixtures, irrigation, washers, and more) that cut usage and costs. Start at the assistance hub, then apply for CAP, set up PromisePay if needed, and check rebates you qualify for. Good for you + good for the environment = winning combo.

🔹 Public Boat Launch — Moving Forward
For more than 65 years, Redondo Beach has explored nearly two dozen locations in King Harbor for a public boat launch. Last week, the City Council finally selected a site — Option E — which preserves existing commercial businesses and provides a safe, convenient launch for the boating public. Expanding safe, affordable ocean access has always been one of my top priorities. We live in paradise, and everyone should be able to enjoy it. Visit the project page to learn more about the studies, community workshops, and milestones that led to this decision.

🔹 RBEF Golf Tournament — thanks for supporting students
Great turnout last week! The greens were covered in kindness. Generosity like you all shared helps fund the classroom extras our kids rely on. I sincerely appreciate everyone who played, volunteered, or donated.

🔹 Library tip: North Branch “Express Hours”
