Hello,
Santa Monica ! As your mayor,
I want you to know I am here to help you,
listen,
and drive the change you voted for. I value action,
accountability and transparency,
so I want you to know what I'm working on and toward what goals. Here are a few items from last week:
Safety
Collaborating with Assembly Member Zbur's office to address our signage and traffic concerns with Caltrans. They' ve updated the signage,
which should help improve safety and clarity on our roads.
Walked the pier with the Pier Corporation to assess necessary repairs and discuss pier deck usage. Also,
met with Harbor Patrol to discuss how water quality impacts their operations. The new PA system,
which enables them to quickly announce closures and emergencies,
including connecting lost children with their guardians,
is finally installed.
Noticed an individual encampment on the north side where the HLP team quickly addressed it.
Economy
Santa Monica is easing regulations to help boost local businesses in anticipation of March Madness. We're committed to supporting our economic recovery following the impact of the January wildfires.
Working closely with businesses in the Wilshire and Ocean Park area to overcome challenges around parking availability and bike lane cleaning—thank you to RRR for your ongoing support !
Attended Local's Night at the pier and visited local businesses throughout the city—our community truly thrives with your support! Here are a few business I love
Education
Attended the PTA Council meeting and shared the history of our city's relationship with local schools, along with insights into our budget with all PTA presidents.
Community
Attended the Wellness Walkon Montana from 10 AM to 5 PM,
and Sunday,
I'm excited to visit my favorite Farmers Market on Main Street!
Attended the League of Women Voters Yellow Rose Ceremony. Presented four commendations to outstanding leaders in our community.
Decommissioning of the Will Rogers Beach staging site will be completed by next week.
Partnered with GovTools who helps cities organize and localize civic information. I'm passionate about bringing civic education and increased engagement opportunities to you all so you' re voices can be heard on the issues you care about most.
Our ongoing collaboration underscores the collective strength of our community,
reflecting my deep commitment to maintaining clean,
safe,
and welcoming public spaces—whether through better road signage,
enhanced pier water quality,
or swiftly addressing encampments. Education remains foundational;
it has been an honor engaging with local PTA presidents to ensure our schools receive essential resources,
benefiting both students and educators. Equally vital is my dedication to supporting local businesses by easing regulations,
addressing infrastructure issues,
and fostering vibrant community events,
keeping Santa Monica inviting and dynamic. Let's continue working together for a thriving Santa Monica!
