MacLaren Wines takes its name from winemaker Steve Law's Scottish clan—a fitting tribute for a project rooted in identity and place. A native Scot, Steve's path to wine wound through Paris, Burgundy, Bordeaux, and the Loire before the northern Rhône Valley took hold of him for good, and it was the wines of Saint-Joseph and Côte-Rôtie that sealed his fate as a Syrah devotee. After cutting his teeth in Dry Creek Valley, he and his wife Heather bottled their first vintage in 2007—a bold, full-bodied Dry Creek Syrah that set them searching for something more elegant.
