More informationPrenatal Yoga
Date: 2025-12-02T02:00:00Z
Description: Labor and delivery may seem like a scary undertaking for many expectant moms. In her Monday evening class, Joyce prepares women for being uncomfortable in labor, and helps them to know that they can handle it. The practice starts off slowly with a warm up, moving into a relatively vigorous strength-building vinyasa practice, and finishing with a relaxing restorative pose. In the process, moms learn how to relax on command, let go of tension and fear, to become more aware of their bodies and to feel comfortable with the changes that pregnancy brings. This is a mixed levels class, with variations to accommodate all expectant mothers.

More informationAs Long As You're Asking: A Conversation with Jason Alexander
Date: 2025-12-01T19:30:00-08:00
Description: "As Long As You're Asking: A Conversation with Jason Alexander" is an evening of comedy, music and conversation with the award-winning star of stage and screen, with a twist: the audience determines what they want to know the most. Alexander will present a variety of topics for the audience to pick and choose from, culminating in behind-the-scenes stories of his life, career and social activism. Alternatively, ask about anything you've always wanted to know and see if he can answer. Alexander has starred on Broadway, in hit films like "Pretty Woman" and "Shallow Hal" and, of course, on the TV series "Seinfeld." He is an actor, director, producer, writer, children's book author, award-winning magician, semi-pro poker player and social-political activist. It's all on the table and the conversation is completely in your control, making for a once-in-a-lifetime event. Though best known for his award-winning nine-year stint as the now iconic George Costanza of television's "Seinfeld," Alexander has achieved international recognition for a career noted for its extraordinary diversity. Aside from his performances on stage, screen and television, he has worked extensively as a writer, composer, director, producer and teacher of acting. In between all that, he has also become an award-winning magician, a notorious poker player and a respected advocate on social and political issues. For his depiction of "George" on "Seinfeld," Alexander garnered six Emmy nominations, four Golden Globe nominations, an American Television Award and two American Comedy Awards. He won two Screen Actor Guild Awards as the best actor in a television comedy despite playing a supporting role, and in 2012 he was honored to receive the Julie Harris Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Actor's Fund. The event is part of the Jewish Luminaries Series. We would like to recognize Susan Wolfe for generously sponsoring this event.

Date: 2025-12-07T18:30:00Z
Description: Motherhood is a new chapter to every woman’s life, filled with happiness and challenges. Whether you have one child or more, every experience is different. Moms and their babes are invited to get together to practice with Suky in a safe, nurturing, fun and non-judgmental environment on Saturday mornings. Her class emphasizes self-care, which is often neglected by new moms, and breath work to cleanse the body: inhale positive, new energy and exhale out the toxins. The practice itself opens with mindfulness meditation, moves into asanas on the floor and gradually comes into a standing flow to stretch and build strength, then wraps up with opening poses (such as the hips or heart) and a luscious savasana. A child-friendly soundtrack sets the tone as fun activities and yoga games are woven throughout the class, engaging the older babies to participate. Suky caters to everyone’s needs and dads are welcome!
