Description: The United Hellenic American Societies will proudly host the 2026 Greek Independence Day Parade and Celebration at Union Square in San Francisco. This year’s historic event will feature, for the first time, a 12-member ceremonial contingent of Greece’s Presidential Guard—the Evzones. Festivities begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the parade at 1:00 PM and a formal flag-raising ceremony at 2:00 PM, accompanied by the Greek National Anthem. The celebration will include live Greek music, traditional dance performances, and powerful poetry, songs, and storytelling honoring the heroes of Greece’s 1821 War of Independence. This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and welcomes all to experience the rich culture, history, and spirit of Hellenism in the heart of San Francisco.
