Description: These meetings are facilitated by an experienced and licensed geriatric nurse practitioner, offering information and social-emotional support to family members caring for a loved one with dementia. This community program is made possible by the Susan and Charles Berghoff Foundation (fact sheet attached). Our special focus is Lewy Body disease and related dementias (LBD). LBD is second only to Alzheimer's dementia in terms of prevalence. LBD is characterized by cognitive, behavioral, movement and autonomic system problems, which worsen over time, making for a very difficult journey for people with LBD and their caregivers.
