Janice Moody’s horticultural roots run deep—she grew up on a nursery that her family started in Half Moon Bay in the early 60’s (McCahon Nursery). Although she majored in Dietetics at UC Davis, her inner passion for gardening never waned and after wearing many hats over the years, she finally found her true calling in life when she became a UC Master Gardener in 2010 and eventually started Seascapes Succulent Nursery and Garden Design in 2016. She calls herself a jack of many trades, but a Master of only one—gardening. She feels so fortunate to be able to work outdoors, doing what she loves most, and sharing her gardening knowledge with others. Space is limited, so book your space for this exclusive event now!

Join the Town’s ADU Workshop to learn about the process of converting existing structures into legal ADUs, bringing buildings into compliance, and understanding permitting requirements and available resources. This workshop is designed to help residents better understand their options for legalizing and improving existing accessory structures while supporting safe, compliant, and functional housing opportunities within the community. Staff will provide information on ADU regulations, common conversion considerations, permitting pathways, and frequently asked questions. The Town remains committed to supporting regional housing goals and fulfilling its Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) as part of the Housing Element. While ADUs are only one piece of the solution, resident participation and collaboration play an important role in helping the Town meet its housing objectives.

Description: A little-known part of local coast history lies in an isolated canyon in Pacifica—the site of a US government WW II detention center that housed thousands of “enemy aliens.” The Half Moon Bay History Association presents a talk by Laura Del Rosso at the Half Moon Bay Public Library about the Sharp Park Detention Center and its impact on local Japanese, Italian, and German communities during a time of fear and suspicion. Laura is a Pacifica native whose Italian family first emigrated to Half Moon Bay more than 100 years ago. A former news reporter for the Pacifica Tribune, she is a freelance writer and member of the Pacifica Historical Society and the Sharp Park Memorial Committee. Admission is free--doors open at 5:30 PM!

This community event not only promoted health and fitness but also brought together families and individuals in a festive atmosphere filled with unique attractions and competitive spirit. One of the day's highlights was the much-loved photo booth featuring the 'Golden Trophy Boy,' a playful nod to classic sports trophies. This quirky addition provided a perfect photo op, capturing the fun and camaraderie of the day. Attendees also enjoyed a variety of props, adding a fun and energetic element to the event’s family-friendly environment. Adding to the festive atmosphere, many runners and attendees dressed in imaginative costumes, making the run not just a race but a parade of creativity and community spirit. The competitive spirit was high as Anthony Cortes, a seasoned runner known for his speed and endurance, finished first with an impressive time of 17 minutes and 15.64 seconds. To further energize the event, attendees enjoyed live music performances by local Bay Area bands RM-RF and Misunderstood.
