Description: In 2008, the Oakland Chinatown community came together to develop a vision for what a healthy and thriving 21st-century Chinatown should be, and who it should be built for. A coalition of many different voices from public health, affordable housing, small businesses, churches, residents, transportation, and public agencies came together to shape the priorities of the City’s Lake Merritt BART Station Area Plan, and created the path for BART’s future redevelopment of this station area to be economically inclusive, and historically and culturally restorative.
