More informationDiablo Improv Festival
Date: 2025-10-24T08:00:00
Description: This fall, spontaneity, laughs, and connection take center stage at the 2025 Diablo Improv Festival (DIF), a three-day celebration of unscripted theater. The festival welcomes everyone from seasoned performers to the simply improv-curious, including teens and kids — for a weekend of shows, workshops, and community. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to play! The festivities begin Friday night with a lively Welcome Reception at Up the Creek Records, which will offer light refreshments, wine, beer, and a chance for performers, teachers, and attendees to meet and mingle. Saturday and Sunday’s events take place at the Lesher Center for the Arts, an architectural gem and cultural hub in the heart of Walnut Creek’s vibrant, walkable downtown. Festival highlights include: • The Groundlings –The headliner performance by the legendary LA-based comedy powerhouse that has launched countless comedy icons. • 'The Space Between' with Diana Brown – Explore the emotional depth that drives the human experience by using improv to stay in the moment. • 'There are No Mistakes in Improv!' with Jennifer Lavenhar – A kinetic workshop combining West Coast Swing dance with improv techniques. Programming for and by teens and kids, led by Mark Duncanson and Kenn Adams, helps young performers build confidence and creativity. For the 55+ crowd, Jaime Rich welcomes seniors of all mobility levels. Kat Koppett teaches applied improv for educators, leaders, and teams. Local talents Geraldine Carolan, Regina Saisi, and Tim Orr provide expertise for improv enthusiasts. Three-troupe, 90-minute variety shows – featuring groups such as Your Favorite Story, Secret Improv Society, The Book Club, BFD, But of Mind, and Nibling Rivalry – offer audiences the opportunity to see familiar faces and sample emerging talent during the weekend’s action-packed events. The festival culminates with an OPEN JAM, which gives improvisers of all levels the chance to take the stage! Tickets and the full schedule are available now at: www.lesherartscenter.org (Search: Diablo Improv Festival or go directly to the DIF page.)
