HMB Odd Fellows Movie Night - Myanmar Earthquake Benefit
MONEY HAS FOUR LEGS A film by Maung Sun Myanmar / Dramedy / 97min. / Burmese with English subtitles Trailer: youtu.be/LHDj34_fipY?si=vjBo4VAZjOHP3yf- A passionate young director fights to complete his first film amidst government censorship, shady producers, and a chaotic cast—only to find his own life echoing the crime drama he’s trying to make. Witty, inventive, and rich with local texture, this satirical gem blurs the line between fiction and reality while offering a vibrant portrait of Myanmar’s creative spirit today. The filmmaker’s brother, Lone Lone Kavan, will be present for a Q&A. He worked as Music Supervisor and Production Designer on the film, which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Myanmar cinema. Urgent Relief for Myanmar A devastating earthquake has struck Myanmar, claiming thousands of lives and further ravaging communities already grappling with the effects of the military coup and civil war. Families are in desperate need of food, water, and medicine. You Can Help This is a critical moment for action. Please join us for a heartfelt evening of music and film in support of immediate disaster relief efforts. Let’s come together to provide aid—and to celebrate the enduring spirit and culture of Myanmar. 100% of proceeds go to grassroots aid for those most affected. About the Filmmaker Ma Aeint is a Myanmar-based filmmaker and producer. She holds a postgraduate degree in Social Work and co-founded Electronic Pictures, a film production company, in 2012. Passionate about the independent film scene, she actively contributes by organizing film debates, workshops, and sharing her knowledge with the community. Ma Aeint produced and co-wrote her debut feature film, Money Has Four Legs, which premiered at the 2020 Busan International Film Festival and later screened at other notable festivals. In 2017, she further honed her skills at the FAMU Summer Filmmaking Initiation Campus in the Czech Republic. In 2021, Ma Aeint was arrested for her involvement in political activism following Myanmar’s coup and spent two years in prison. Released in May 2023, she has since resumed her filmmaking journey, continuing to share her voice and vision through her work.

M Stark Gallery presents Donna Fenstermaker: Inspired
M Stark Gallery presents Donna Fenstermaker: Inspired paintings/oil on canvas 2025 May 17 - June 29 Public reception for the artist Sunday, May 18, from 1-4PM Artist talk Friday, June 6 at 5PM, part of First Friday: Art on Main in historic Downtown Half Moon Bay M Stark Gallery, 727 Main Street, Half Moon Bay, 94019, 415.407.8743, mstarkgallery.com Saturdays 11-5, Sundays 11-4, First Fridays 4-6, and by appointment Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays Donna Fenstermaker is inspired by the natural world. She is always carefully observing her surroundings, memorizing fleeting changes in atmosphere and light until she can spend time in her studio and record her interpretation of the moment. Her abstracted landscapes are deeply informed by her mastery of printmaking, with flat expanses of light and dark color employed to create the illusion of depth. New work in this exhibition was inspired by a stay in the M Stark Gallery artists residency program in August 2024. Fog is an ongoing series for Fenstermaker who found new inspiration in the signature Half Moon Bay fog and the twisted, gnarled, weathered Monterey Pines along the Coastal Trail. Fenstermaker received her B.A. in studio art from San Jose State University with a concentration in ceramics, and her M.F.A. in printmaking from California College of Arts and Crafts (now CCA). She taught art in the Contra Costa Community College District for over twenty years. She is an active participant in the Bay Area contemporary art community, often exhibiting her work multiple times per year. Her media include painting, drawing, bookmaking, sculpture, and printmaking. Fenstermaker lives in Berkeley and works in Oakland. M Stark Gallery presents Jennifer Roberts Almodova: Abundance
M STARK GALLERY PRESENTS JENNIFER ROBERTS ALMODOVA Solo exhibition: “Abundance” August 23 - September 28, 2025 Reception for the artist Sunday, August 24, from 1-4 First Friday Artist Talk, September 5 at 5PM Open Saturdays 11-5, Sundays 11-4, First Friday 4-6, and by appointment mstarkgallery.com | 415.407.8743 “Abundance” is Jennifer Roberts Almodova’s second solo show with M Stark Gallery. Once again, she shines a spotlight on preternatural flowers and plants all around us. The vibrant joy of Roberts Almodova’s thrilling oversize watercolor flower paintings is a reflection of a dawning cultural trend celebrating abundance, capturing the zeitgeist of this moment. Margaret Roach, author of the "In the Garden" column for The New York Times, says “Gardens brimming with abundance are brimming with life.” Roberts Almodova is fascinated by the kaleidoscopic expressions of gardens, experiencing the changing of the seasons with rapt interest as she visits the same landscapes many times over the course of the year. She wishes to shine a light on overlooked life-giving details, including the daily lives of nature’s flying jewels, the pollinators. Public awareness and advocacy is influencing government policy change and sparking a revolution in backyard gardens designed as havens for pollinators. In the arena of personal and professional growth, an abundance mindset is the belief that abilities can be developed through effort and learning. And in current events, the "Abundance Agenda" aims to shift the focus toward building and innovation, advocating for policies that streamline processes and encourage economic expansion for all. Roberts Almodova studied art and art history at Scripps College. She received her M.A. in Sculpture from San Francisco State University. She taught watercolor painting and color theory at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for thirty years before retiring in 2022. Today, Roberts Almodova lives in Half Moon Bay on a street with exquisite gardens, including her own, and visits the renowned gardens of Filoli often. Pictured clockwise starting upper left: Butterfly Dahlia, Coloratura Succulents, Hummingbird Dahlia, Sunflower Bluebird. Details for all: Jennifer Roberts Almodova, 2025, watercolor, 34 x 46 inches unframed, 40 x 52 inches framed.

Whitney Alyssa Parker Solo exhibition: California Dreamscape 2025 July 4 - August 17 Reception for the artist Sunday, July 13, from 1-4PM Artist talk Friday, August 1 at 5PM M Stark Gallery, 727 Main Street, Half Moon Bay Open Saturdays 11-5, Sundays 11-4, and by appointment mstarkgallery.com 415-407-8743 Once a wedding gown designer in New York City, Whitney Alyssa Parker makes art with her signature sewing machine stitches that is deeply immersive, inspired by the landscape of California. Parker’s layered, textural work is made with torn hand-painted paper, appliquĂ© of gold and silver leaf, and hand-knotted stitches. Her sophisticated, subdued color palette is activated by the motion of the machine stitch lines. Her process includes video documentation of the making of her work, which adds a quality of intimacy. Parker received her B.F.A. in Fashion Design from Savannah College of Art and Design. She was selected for the 2022–2023 Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Community Space exhibition by juror Heather Marx. She lives and works in Redwood City. Pictured: Whitney Alyssa Parker, Along 280, 2025, mixed media, 30 x 42 inches

Realy for Life Pacifica Coastside
Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back. Relay for Life Pacifica Coastside is holding their annual event.  We raise money for the American Cancer Society.   The event will be held on July 19th in Pacifica.  We will have live bands, raffles, fundraising events and fabulous prizes.  Make a day of it and come to our event. Relay For Life is more than a walk – it’s a chance to come together in your local community to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against every cancer as we come together for every life. Be a part of the global community of passionate supporters working to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is more than just a walk. It’s an opportunity to be part of a global community of passionate supporters who want to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone. In May 1985, Dr. Gordon “Gordy” Klatt walked and ran for 24 hours around a track in Tacoma, Washington, raising money to help the American Cancer Society with the nation’s biggest health concern: cancer. Friends, family, and patients watched and supported him as he walked and ran more than 83.6 miles and raised $27,000 through pledges to help save lives from cancer.

We are a 501 (c)3 foundation that funds short and long term projects that meet community needs and supports special projects of other charitable, educational and public causes and organizations. Our areas of focus include: vocational scholarships, disaster relief, club community projects and international projects. Recent projects include purchasing household items for Coastside farmworkers, providing vocational scholarships for Half Moon Bay High School seniors, sponsoring the entry plaza at the state of the art Half Moon Bay Library, funding the media room at Senior Coastsiders, and providing a fishing trip for Coastside Veterans. We hold an annual fundraising event, Magic of the Coastside, to raise funds for these projects. This year we are hosting a family style Lobsterfest with music and entertainment. We will also have drinks, desserts and more! In addition, we will include a "fund-a-need" activity to support two wonderful nonprofits in the community! Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off
No weigh. Weigh!!! Bring it on burly, beefy, bodacious behemoths! The excitement is building in Pumpkintown as the World’s Greatest Gourd Growers and their Goliath, mind-bending, Rhinoceros-sized orange orbs hope to squash the world record on Monday, October 10 at the 50th Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off –– the “Super Bowl of Weigh-Offs” –– in the World Pumpkin Capital of Half Moon Bay, California. Using a pay-by-the-pound system, the world’s biggest top prize of $9/pound will be awarded to the 2023 weigh-off champion thanks to title sponsor, Safeway. Also at stake are thousands of dollars in super hefty prize money doled out to the top 20 plus the big carrot: a $30,000 total mega-prize for a new world record pumpkin entered at Half Moon Bay (the current world record is 2,703 pounds set at a 2021 weigh-off in Italy). Defending champion Travis Gienger's Leviathan 2,560-pound mega-gourd set a new North American record and handily won the 2022 Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay. A host of accomplished veteran growers are expected to contend for the coveted title. The champion will be feted and play a starring role in the world-famous Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival, Oct. 14-15 (including a free weekend at the posh, pumpkin-centric Ritz-Carlton on the stunningly beautiful Half Moon Bay coast). Beauty will share center stage with beefy brawn with a $1000 prize awarded for the “Joe Cotchett Family Most Beautiful Pumpkin” as judged by the audience based on color, shape and size. The grand champion gourd (along with the top four overall) will be on display plus there's a special weigh-off champion pumpkin photo booth at the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival, October 14-15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street. Admission is free. Open to the public. They’ll be live-streaming the Weigh-Off on Facebook!

Sam Perry Pop-Up: A Selection of Small Works
M Stark Gallery is proud to present a survey of small sculptures by Sam Perry. Perry sources his wood from Runnymede Sculpture Farm in Woodside, where he has worked as the director of conservation since 1989. Perry is a master of illusion: There is no piecing or joinery in his work. Work that looks folded or tied is carved from a single log or branch. It takes years for a log to dry out and cure so Perry can transform it into the curvilinear, abstract form he imagined when he first saw it on the ground. Sam Perry grew up working weekends in his father’s Honolulu woodworking shop, helping restore historic koa racing canoes. He received his B.A. and M.F.A. in Ceramics from California College of Arts and Crafts (now California College of the Arts). Perry has been represented by Rena Bransten Gallery (San Francisco) since 2008. Special thanks to Rena Bransten Gallery. Sam Perry: A selection of small works October 4 – November 9, 2025 Public opening reception Sunday, October 5, 1-4PM First Friday Artist Talk November 7, 5PM M Stark Gallery, 727 Main Street, Half Moon Bay mstarkgallery.com | 415-407-8743 | art@mstarkgallery.com
